I had a request for a mossy green look; which I swear I was totally gonna do but while I was searching for the right green, this one popped up and I just couldn't not do a look with it today. It's got a gorgeous pink color change which is why I paired it with a pink. The pink I chose has a green color change so they kinda match :)
Also I popped into Sally's today and saw a new FingerPaints display and grabbed up a super pretty flaky polish called Twisted so I added in a picture of that over black polish for funsies.

I managed to get another FOTD done. I'm quite proud,lol. I had a hard time getting the sparkle in the deeper purple (Cuddlefish) to show up but it's definitely there, and so pretty. My shadow is starting to crease a bit, I'm running out of my primer so I have to use much less. You get the idea though :)

I am definitely enjoying being off work :)
I broke out an old favorite today, a she space pigment called Patent Leather Baby, and promptly found out that it absolutely HATES Pixie Epoxy, lol. Ia lways used this pigment wet so I had no idea how it would work with PE...they are definitely NOT friends.
I left it on even though it was a bit patchy in places because you can't really tell IRL.

Another color I haven't used, Parental Advisory from Fyrinae. I have used this color maybe once or twice. I usually lean to the redder purples and this is a more royal purple but paired with the pinky purple-y goodness of Sequined Master, it looks amazing. Enjoy!

I haven't really used any of my Evil Shades eye shadow samples so I thought I would break them out and give' em a go. They are quite nice and pretty easy to work with as far as loose shadows go. I did apply them using her mixing medium, so they are kinda foiled which makes the colors a bit more intense.
The lip color is much more hot pink than bubblegum pink IRL but the flash just blasted through my lipgloss and so more of the lipstick underneath is showing.

I do wish I had remembered to reapply my lipgloss. I was wearing Evil Shades Guilty As Sin gloss and it's a sheer bright fuchsia, but most of it was gone by the time pics were taken so you can't really see how pretty it is.

I picked up one of the new Cover Girl lip perfection lipsticks in Siren. It's really pretty but the glitter in it makes it feel kinda chalky on your lips. But since a little gloss makes this lipstick look much prettier I don't mind the texture.

Evil Shades cosmetics!

If you read my blog you may remember that a while back I requested a baby pink blush with a blue sheen and that Evil Shades cosmetics was up to the challenge. I received the blush and I love it.
After that good experience I wanted to try out a couple things I had my eye on so I placed another small order. It was shipped out in the time frame stated on her webpage; and even though the postal service had a bit of trouble delivering it in a timely manner, everything arrived unscathed and packaged beautifully.

Inside the cute little pouch I found two free samples along with my order of Vixen blush and Diabolical lipstick. The samples were a cuticle balm and a foiling/wetlining liquid.

And here are swatches of the color products as well as a test of the foiling liquid using some of my deeper loose shadows.

I love all the Fyrinnae colors in this look so much! Samhain Spirits is from last year's Halloween collection and Te Amo is from the Dia De Los Muertos collection that just came out. I love the coppery iridescent glow that Te Amo has. Unfortunately, the city lights collection the Lights of Shanghai is from is discontinued but you could easily use another pinky peachy color.

My Zombie Child: A trip into the world of SFX makeup

I have never attempted any type of special effects makeup, if it couldn't be accomplished with regular makeup I just didn't do it.

I decided that this year I would try it, I have plans to be a zombie nurse (a la silent hill, though not nearly as creepy lol) and my child wants to be a zombie school girl.

I should mention here that my model is my 4 year old daughter so if a zombie-esque small child bothers you, you may not want to continue reading.

So, I saw that Halloween Express had opened and went in to see what I could see. I came across something called scab blood, which is a thick syrup-y substance that dries and then you can 'pick' it to make it look super gross. I also found something called scar skin, which a wax based fiber-y putty type stuff that you can mold to whatever shape you like.

Armed with these two products, a matte 88 eyeshadow palette, Hard Candy concealer palette and some tooth picks and q-tips; I got to work. Here is what I came up with, I think for Halloween I will do a bit more but this was just a trial run to see if I could create what I had in my mind.

I love these colors so much and though I have worn them separately, I've never put them on in the same makeup look. I love the way this turned out though so be be prepared for more pictures than usual!

To start with, let's talk about Gossamer, if you read my blog you will know this was a request fulfilled by the lovely Andrea at Evil Shades Cosmetics. This does not impart a lot color since it's a pale pink but the thing that makes this blush insanely gorgeous is that blue sheen it gives.
See?

Next, let's talk about Mephisto. This appears to be your run of the mill deep purple in the jar but if you looks closer you'll see that this is a royal blue with a fine red shimmer blended in.

Now for Fan Service, this thing is straight lavender purple...no way around that but the formula is so easy to sheer out and make wearable, especially for paler skinned people. I put a glittery gloss over it so it does appear a bit pinker than it actually is in the photos.

I have had this color in my stash for quite a while. I've always liked it but it never jumped out at me like it did today. I usually wear it on the lid with a darker taupe in the crease but today I decided to wear it all alone.
Verdict: I am in love with this color. It has so much dimension and yet it's not a loud and obnoxious color.

It is from Fyrinnae's Arcane Magic line which means it has a color shift depending on your location to the light. This particular color is a soft taupe that has a soft blue and soft rose shift. On my lids, it's a medium taupe color with a silvery purple sheen but others can see the color shift readily.

So, if you don't have this....you need it :D

I wanted to do a tutorial on how I do the 'outer v' portion of my eye to give depth. This is one of my favorite ways to wear eyeshadow and is the 'formula' for creating most of my everyday looks.

This eyeshadow placement looks good on most everyone, but if you have really wide set eyes it can make them appear farther apart so keep that in mind.
You can do this look with any colors, even brights and you can really exaggerate the shape for a more dramatic look.

unfortunately it seems I have developed a sensitivity to either the glue I used (DUO lash adhesive)or Sonia Kashuk lashes. I used the Sonia Kashuk lashes for the first time yesterday and this morning I awoke to extremely puffy eyes, I could barely open them. I have this pair of lovely lashes I received from a wonderful lady that I have nearly worn to the point of disintegration, problem is, these lashes are no longer carried by Coastal Scents and any approximate dupes of this exact lash are very costly.
I have been searching for a pair of lashes that have the same type of fluttery, tapered-ness that my Minkeyes lashes have. Mostly my search had been largely disappointing but I was browsing Target's cosmetics section and came across a set of Full Glam lashes by Sonia Kashuk and while they are slightly fuller and a little less fluttery, I think they are pretty close.

Cremesheen glasses are revered in the MAC community for their soft and creamy, non-sticky application. Having just purchased Partial to Pink Cremesheen I thought I would put it to the test and compare it with two well loved drugstore brands, NYX and Revlon.
The contenders are NYX lipgloss with Megashine in Beige (a very NON beige cool milky pink) and Revlon Super Lustrous lipgloss in Pink Pop (a fluorescent blue pink).

And swatches just for fun :)

After careful consideration I have decided that NYX and Revlon (at least the non-shimmery ones) can both hold their own next to the MAC Cremesheens.
The NYX gloss is just slightly less sticky than Partial to Pink and the Revlon gloss is just slightly more sticky than it's competitor. The feeling is nearly the same; that lovely, gel-like smoothness and the lasting power is also nearly identical.

If you have these glosses maybe you could let me know your thoughts as well :)

No matter what I order, the boys at Fyrinnae never fail to disappoint! This time I ordered a couple of blushes as well as a face highliter and a few loose shadows.
I swatched these pretty sparklers over Pixie Epoxy to show the pigmentation, even the blushes, so of course they will apply much more sheer on the cheeks. Enjoy!

I picked up this little beauty yesterday for about $5 at good ol Walmart. It's a Rimmel lipstick from the long wear line and according to the lime green sticker on the tube it's a new shade. The color is called In Vogue and it's a super opaque almost neon cross between coral and fucshia.

Mini Haulage: new brushes and a minty lipgloss

I am in love with all things minty; especially minty lipglosses so I picked one up I haven't tried since I was in junior high: Covergirl WetSlicks Amazemint gloss. I got one called Slaphappy, the name won me over. I can't say it's a showstopping color; it's just a sheer pinky-peach with a bit of shimmer, but I love it's minty-freshness :)

I also picked up a new bronzer brush from Walmart. It's a super dense synthetic brush and although it is labeled as a bronzer it buffs in mineral foundation better than my flat top brush.

My last goody is a stippling brush from the Sephora Pro line. It was picked out by my husband who apparently DOES listen when I jibber on about my makeup.

Just a quickie post about what a black base can do for your iridescent eyeshadows and pigments. Using a black base can make nearly any color pop but it is especially useful for adding some extra oomph to those colors that are sheer with iridescent glimmers or have a duochrome effect. Here's a few pics to illustrate :)
